THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE KOICA PROJECT SERVES AS A FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEXTILE TECHNOLOGIES AT THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF TAJIKISTAN

It should be noted thatfFrom October 24 to 31, 2026, the Republic of Korea will host an experience-sharing and internship program as part of the project “Establishment of a Textile Technology Center for Training Textile Industry Engineers in Tajikistan.” This project, based at the Technological University of Tajikistan, is being implemented with $10 million in financial support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The program involves an official delegation approved by the Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, led by the Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, Aziz Nazar. The delegation includes a representative from the Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kudratullo Aminzoda, as well as a project team from the Technological University of Tajikistan, which comprises the university’s rector, Rahmonzoda Zoir Fayzali, and seven other representatives.
At the beginning of the program, the delegation met with Choi Jae-hong, President of the Korea Dyeing and finishing technology Institute (DYETEC), and project manager Won-seok Choi. During the meeting, the parties discussed matters related to the project’s implementation, the establishment of a Textile Technology Center at the Technological University of Tajikistan, the development of material and technical resources, the enhancement of educational and industrial infrastructure, and the strengthening of ties between research and production. Particular attention was also given to leveraging Korean expertise in the adoption of innovative technologies and the improvement of training systems for engineers and specialists in this field.
During the visit, the delegation explored the activities of the research laboratories at the DYETEC institute, the capabilities of its modern testing equipment, and advanced methods for researching and assessing the quality of textile products. In particular, they examined technologies for dyeing and finishing fabrics, the testing of the physical and mechanical properties of textile materials, the conduct of scientific and experimental research, and ways to apply research findings within production processes.
Visiting the laboratories will provide a favorable foundation for gaining insight into the Korean approach to organizing industry-oriented research, enhancing the practical skills of engineers, and leveraging scientific capabilities to address production-related challenges. In this context, discussions also covered opportunities for expanding collaboration among higher education institutions, research centers, and industrial enterprises in Tajikistan and Korea.
According to the trip itinerary, the delegation will participate in training courses focused on the development of the textile industry, as well as on environmental and digital technologies. They will also visit the Textile Museum in Daegu, the Textile and Fashion Trade Center in Busan, and various textile manufacturing enterprises. These activities are intended to provide insight into the history and evolution of the sector, showcase modern advancements in the Korean textile industry, and explore how the experience gained can be applied in Tajikistan.
The implementation of this project is of great significance for strengthening the scientific, technical, and production capacity of Tajikistan’s textile industry, improving the quality of vocational education, training competitive engineers, and introducing innovative technologies. Cooperation between Tajikistan and Korea in this field can foster the sustainable development of the sector, expand scientific and educational ties, and facilitate the training of personnel who meet the needs of the labor market.
