The Faculty of Economics and Finance is the largest faculty and has gained a high status in the structure of the university.
Currently, more than 900 students are studying in the full-time department of the faculty in 6 specialties of bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Also at the faculty 8 graduate students and 3 doctoral students in their specialty (PhD) conduct research work. These works are being completed.
The faculty of 70 people conduct their classes at the faculty, including 1 academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, 1 corresponding member of the Academy of Engineering of the Republic of Tajikistan, 7th Doctor of Economics, professors, 3 candidate of Economics, and about. professors and 13th candidate of economic sciences, associate professors. The faculty implements its activities in four areas: academic, educational, research and innovation. A significant contribution of the faculty is the introduction of a credit training system. The faculty uses interactive teaching methods in the classroom and in this direction has conducted several training seminars for university staff and other higher educational institutions of the country.
Faculty History
The history of the faculty of economics and finance dates back to the establishment of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. This educational structure declared its formation in the 1991-1992 academic year under the name of the Department of Social and Economic Sciences and its first head was Candidate of Economic Sciences, Nikolaev K.A. Then, after a year, K. Nikalaev replaced by Ph.D., associate professor Ergashev A. At the same time, the department was renamed. The department began to be called the department of economics and management, and until 1996, the department remained under that name. Alternately, the leadership of the department was assigned to Mukhatberdieva X (1993), Babadjanova R.M. (1993-1994) and Shobekova M.Sh. (1994-1996gg.).
It should be noted that at the university in 1993 in the structure of the faculty of marketing and management the department of economics and management was created. But, due to staffing difficulties, the management of the faculty was carried out by specialists in another field and the heads of the department changed annually. The activities of the faculty under the name of marketing and management lasted until February 7, 1995 and the post of dean of the faculty was performed by Ph.D., Negmatova G.D.
At the beginning of the 1996-1997 school year, two independent departments were formed on the basis of the Department of Economics and Management: the Department of Economics and Law (Head of the Department Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Babadzhanov R.M.) and the Department of Economics and Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (Head . Chair Ph.D., Associate Professor Toshmatov M.N.).
In the same year, at the University of Technology, at the discretion of the experience of the activities of US universities, it was decided to dissolve faculties and departments and in their place the creation of six educational departments, one of which was the Department of Economics and Business. The head of the department was appointed Ph.D., associate professor Toshmatov M.N. It should be noted that it was after the appointment of Toshmatov M.N. The head of the department, time showed that this decision was correct and timely. First of all, he began his work by developing curricula for economic specialties with the discretion of their improvement and meeting the requirements of a market economy. In a short time, such famous scientists as academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, Doctor of Economics, Professor Rakhimov R.K., Doctor of Economics, Professor Usmanova T.J. and others were invited to teaching at the Technological University of Tajikistan . Also, the teachers of the department were able to develop curricula for all academic disciplines in the economic field with the discretion of the requirements of the real economy of the country and introduce them into the educational process.
On September 1, 2000, the Faculty of Economics was founded on the basis of the Department of Economics and Business (Dean M.N. Toshmatov). Then, from September 1, 2001, the Faculty of Economics was renamed the Faculty of Engineering and Economics (Dean M.N. Toshmatov). On September 1, 2007, with the discretion of coordinating the activities of the faculty in preparing economists and managers for the light and food industries, the faculty was renamed the faculty of economics and management (Dean M.N. Toshmatov).
Based on the decision of the Academic Council of TUT, from February 1, 2009, the Faculty of Business Administration and Innovative Economics was founded on the basis of the Faculty of Economics and Management and the International Faculty. A month later, that is, on March 26, 2009, two faculties were established on the basis of the Faculty of Business Administration and Innovation Economics: Financial and Innovation Management and Business Administration and Innovation Economics. To the post of dean of the faculty of financial and innovative management was appointed Ph.D., associate professor Daringov K.P. From September 1, 2010 to February 1, 2019, the dean of the faculty was Ph.D., associate professor Khasanov A.R., and from February 1, 2019 to the present, the post of dean was assigned to ke. N., Associate Professor A. Sattorova Currently, there are three departments in the structure of the faculty: economic theory and economic development (head of the department, doctor of economic sciences, professor Usmanova T.J.), finance and credit (head of the department, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Sadikov R.Kh.), economics and management (head of the department, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Dadadzhonova N.M.), who train specialists in 5 economic specialties.
Over the course of its activities, the faculty has trained more than 2,800 specialists in the field of economics who work in various sectors of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan and beyond.
Graduates of the faculty are prominent statesmen, ministers, heads of large enterprises, banks, heads of departments, departments and international financial organizations such as the Ministry of Finance, the World Bank, and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. A great contribution to the development of the faculty was made by the achievements of students of the faculty at republican olympiads among higher professional institutions in the field of economics. In 2005 – Mukhitdinova F.F., in 2006 – Mukhitdinova F.F. in 2010 – Shokarimov B.I. in 2013 – Evazov S., in 2015. – Davlatova Z.A. won first place in 2007 – Mukhitdinova F.F. in 2009 – Shokarimov B.I., in 2014 – Davlatova Z.A. won the second place. The material and technical base of the faculty comply with modern requirements. The classrooms are equipped with computers, projectors, electronic boards and stands. The faculty also has specialized audiences for interactive classes and the innovative Youth Center. At the faculty there is a certification course in accounting, which graduated over 520 people and became holders of certificates. Currently, the faculty is conducting research on the topics “Tasks and Development of the Transitional Economy in the Republic of Tajikistan”, “Problems of Formation and Development of the Labor Market in the Republic of Tajikistan”, “Investment Policy and Attraction of Investments in the Republic of Tajikistan”, Financial Support for the Development of the Economy and Sustainability of Tajikistan Public Finance ” , “Management of economic risks in industrial enterprises of the Republic of Tajikistan”, “Food Security of the Republic of Tajikistan”, “Feature, basis, problems and ways of forming an innovative economy in the Republic of Tajikistan”.
An important direction in the activities of the faculty is participation in international educational projects. The faculty is involved in projects such as Tempus, Erasmus +, CAEP (central Asia Education Platform), which are funded by the European Union. Teachers actively participate in seminars and trainings of the GIZ program (Germany), where they improve their knowledge and skills. Professor Toshmatov M.N. He is the coordinator of the Tempus program and according to this program, 4 SWAN projects were implemented: Sustainable Water Resources Management, as a result of which a master’s program in the specialty “Economics and Water Resources Management” was implemented, and a Water Research Center was also created.
Currently, the MIND: Management Innivation Development project is being implemented as part of the Erasmus + program “Higher Education Capacity Building”. To support the project, the Innovation Center for Youth was created with the aim of studying and developing students’ entrepreneurship and innovation skills. The center is equipped with modern computer and educational equipment.
In different years, the deans of the faculty made a great contribution to the formation and development of the faculty: Negmatova GD, Shabozov O.Sh., Toshmatov MN, Daringov KP, Usmanova T.J., Khasanov AR and Sattorov A.A. Particularly prominent is the contribution of Professor Toshmatov MN, who for 13 years was the head of the faculty.
