Department of Fashion Design and Art of Fashion

This structure was founded in 1991 as the Department of Art Design. The initiators of its establishment were the People’s Artist of Tajikistan Zuhur Habibulloev and the famous designer, Professor A.N. Zanevskiy, who headed the department in the 1990s.
Currently, the department is responsible for organizing the educational process in five specialties:
1-19010105 – Costume and Textile Design.
1-19010105 02 Shoe and Leather Product Design
1-50010201 – Technology of Garment Products
1-50010202 – Design of Garment Products
The department includes scientists: Doctor of History M.F. Ibrohimov, Doctor of Technical Sciences A.B. Ishmatov, Doctor of Technical Sciences D.S. Mansuri, Candidate of Arts G.A. Umarova, Candidate of Architecture J.Sh. Ghanizoda, along with other experienced teachers and young specialists, makes a significant contribution to the training of designers and fashion designers.
Graduates of specialties 1-19010105 and 1-50010107 receive a professional bachelor’s degree in art and stylist, and those who graduate from specialty 1-500102 receive a professional bachelor’s degree in technologist and designer in garment production.
Teaching of specialized subjects for students of the above specialties takes place in specialized classrooms – studios of art history, drawing, painting, design, as well as modern educational and production laboratories of the garment industry. During their studies, they learn the rules and methods of developing new models (models) based on historical, traditional and modern patterns, cutting (cutting) fabrics and other materials for sewing clothes of various shapes and sizes, as well as the nuances of sewing them at home, in a studio (according to individual orders) and in a factory (in large quantities).
Teaching specialized subjects at the Department of Clothing Design and Fashion Art allows students to get acquainted with the history of national and world clothing and fashion, the basics of choosing clothing materials, the technology of making various clothing components, accessories and decorations, calculating the cost and price of products, as well as organizing sewing production. In extracurricular activities and clubs, great attention is paid to the use of television recordings of the achievements of famous designers and designers of the past and the modern world. After each half-year of study, a semester exhibition of works is held at the department level, and based on its results, students’ professional skills are assessed. Every two to three months, an exhibition of models designed and sewn by students is held in the main hall of the university. The process of defending diploma projects and final works of graduates is especially exciting. Individual students, led by the department’s teachers, hold individual creative exhibitions outside the university while still studying, thus promoting their acquired knowledge and skills. A large number of graduates of the department have now become famous as designers and fashion designers at the national and international level.
