The Department of chemistry was established in the Tajik Higher Technological College (now Technological University of Tajikistan) in may 1991 and in September 1991 was renamed into the Department of chemistry and technology of food industry.

In may 1993, the Department was divided into the Department of chemistry and the Department of technology of the food industry.

In September 2000, on the basis of the Department of science and food technology was established Department of chemistry, biochemistry and food technology, which in February 2000, divided into the Department of chemical Sciences and the Department of technology and equipment for food production

The Department has one Professor, 3 candidates of Sciences At the Department of chemistry are taught in secondary chemical discipline. Teaching is carried out for students of Engineering-technological faculty and the faculty of technology and design, as well as for students of the correspondence Department and preparatory Department. Teachers of the Department read lectures and conduct laboratory sessions in the following chemical disciplines including General chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physicochemical methods of analysis of physical and colloid chemistry, nutritional chemistry, chemistry of dyeing fabrics and chemical technology of textile materials. Teaching is conducted in Russian and Tajik languages.

The Department has 4 training laboratories (laboratory of General and inorganic, analytical, physcolloidal and organic chemistry) lecture hall and science lab.

Laboratory

At the Department of chemistry a lecture hall, 4 laboratories and a scientific laboratory

Laboratory of “Analytical chemistry”

Laboratory of Inorganic chemistry

Laboratory of  Physical and chemical methods of materials analysis

Laboratory “Physical and colloid chemistry”

Laboratory of “Research laboratory”

The Department of Chemistry’s research laboratory is designed to support the research activities of graduate students, doctoral candidates, and master’s students. The laboratory is primarily intended for determining the physicochemical properties of substances, determining the dry matter content in extracts, and determining the UV spectra of extracts.
