The Department of Food Technology has been operating since the establishment of the Technological University of Tajikistan on the basis of the Department of General Education. In 1991, in order to organize a department by specialty, structural changes took place, as a result of which the Department of Chemistry was disbanded into two departments: the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Food Industry Technology.

By the Resolution of the Academic Council of the Technological University of Tajikistan dated 5.12.1996 and the order of the Rector of TUT No. 250 / OX dated 25.12.1996, the Department of Science and Food Products was formed, the chairperson of which was appointed Ph.D. in Biology Bobojonova Kh.I. and the Department of Food Industry Technology, where the head was appointed Ph.D. in Chemistry, Acting Associate Professor Yusupov Sh.T.

In May 1993, the department was divided into the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Food Industry Technology.

In September 2000, the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Food Technology was formed on the basis of the Department of Food Science and Technology, which in February 2000 was divided into the Department of Chemical Disciplines and the Department of Food Production Technology and Equipment. The department was renamed for almost ten years, until 2009. In 2005, the Department of Biochemistry and Food Technology, and a year later, two departments were formed on the basis of this department: Food Production Technology and Food Production Machines and Equipment.

On September 5, 2006, by the Resolution of the Academic Council of the Technological University of Tajikistan (minutes “01/OX dated September 5, 2006), the Department of “Technology and Equipment for Food Production” was divided into two departments: “Machines and Apparatus for Food Products” and “Technology of Food Products”. In September 2012, the Department of “Technology of Food Products” was renamed the Department of “Standardization and Technology of Food Products”. Since 2008, the Department of “Technology of Food Products” was headed by PhD in Chemistry, Associate Professor Ikrami M.B. In 2009, PhD in Engineering, Associate Professor Khushmatov A.T. was appointed the head of the department. From July 1, 2014 by order F-4K-2 was renamed to the Department of Food Technology and Standardization
