The project ‘Open Food Innovation University’ is being implemented by a consortium comprising seven full partners and six associated partners.
The leading partner is the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE:
Modernization of innovative higher education and food technology in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, thereby enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education to the socio-economic development needs of the respective countries.
The objective of the consortium is to develop and implement an OPEN UNIVERSITY at five Central Asian universities — a new form of education in which teaching and learning are carried out in a modular format, allowing external learners to participate in the educational process alongside full-time students.
External learners are officially admitted to the university and may participate in specific modules selected in advance. They gradually accumulate credits that may lead to the award of a higher education diploma (upon fulfillment of the requirements set by the respective university) or may choose to attend only one or several modules based on their individual interests, receiving a certificate upon completion.
The OPEN UNIVERSITY offers a synergy between the theory provided by academic staff and the practical experience of relevant business sectors. The integration of knowledge and practice forms the foundation of the university’s open learning approach. Innovation will also be a key component of the project and will be incorporated into both the content and the teaching methods of the educational modules.
The following training modules will be developed and implemented at the newly established OPEN UNIVERSITY.
Module №1 Dairy Processing Technology
Module №2 Meat Processing Technologies
Module №3 Fruit and Vegetable Processing Technologies
Module №4 Grain Processing Technology
Module №5 Food Safety Management
Module №6 Development of New Food Products
Module №7 Academic essay
