The role of the circular economy in ensuring the efficient use of natural resources in the Republic of Tajikistan

On December 20, 2024, at the Technological University of Tajikistan, within the framework of the project CirculEc – “Development of innovative curricula and modules in Circular Economy and Sustainable Development” it was held a round table on the theme ” The role of the circular economy in ensuring the efficient use of natural resources in the Republic of Tajikistan “.

The round table was opened with an opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of International Management and Marketing  Associate Professor A.A. Sattorzoda, and at the same time he made a report on the theme “Circular Economy in the сontext of the Implementation of the Concept of Sustainable Development” and noted that the circular economy is a model of economic development, the purpose of which is to ensure the efficient use of resources, the possibility of their reuse and recycling of waste and, on this basis, extending the service life of materials. At the same time, in his report he noted the principles, advantages of the circular economy, its role in ensuring sustainable development of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as problems and shortcomings in its implementation.

At the round table, a number of TUT teachers and invited guests made report and discussed various aspects of the circular economy.

The scientific report of the head of the Department of Financial Management of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor Dostiev M.N. on the theme “Efficient use of modern technologies in the process of environmental entrepreneurship and their role in the formation of the “green economy”” was devoted to the consideration of the goals, objectives, legal and legislative framework and the impact of the circular economy against the backdrop of the rapid industrialization of the country.

The report of the Head of the Department of the Implementation of Strategy and Innovative Technologies Jafarov A.S. on the theme “The Role of Digitalization of the Economy in the Implementation of the Circular Economy Model” was devoted to the role and importance of the processes of digitalization of the economy in the implementation and results of the circular economy, the mechanisms of organization and targeted collection of statistical data, the creation of intelligent management systems, ensuring the efficient operation of the service infrastructure and business models in this direction.

Then the scientific report of the head of the education department Mirzoev Sh.T. was heard on the theme “The role of consumers in the implementation of the circular economy”. It was noted that the circular economy is an important area of ​​economic and environmental policy in Tajikistan. Efficient and targeted use of natural resources can not only protect the country from environmental and economic threats, but also ensure its sustainable development, as well as help solve global problems such as climate change and waste reduction.

Useful proposals regarding the effectiveness of the implementation of the circular economy model and the correct and targeted waste management were also put forward and discussed.
