MAPREE –Master programs on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Buildings in Central Asia and Russia (MAPREE)

Project objectives

MAPREE is a joint project between partners from EU, Central Asia and Russia aiming to strengthen education in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency in buildings.

Through the MAPREE project, partner universities from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Russian Federation will develop a new master program in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency in buildings in order to encourage the possibilities to decrease the energy use in buildings and minimize the environmental impact. The master program will be structured according to the Bologna three cycle system and the European Credit Transfer System and include the development of appropriate laboratory components and field experiment tools based on interactive learning and teaching. The graduated masters on civil engineering will be prepared to meet the market needs and the building/energy efficiency codes of the Partner countries in order to establish sustainable energy development and efficient energy practices.

The MAPREE project will also establish training courses for professional civil engineers and architects in the areas of applied energy for buildings as well as promote technological and scientific co-operation between universities and appropriate construction (and other) companies.

The main project objectives are:

  1. to develop new Master programs on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Buildings in the partner countries in Central Asia and Russia according to the Bologna three cycle system and the European Credit Transfer System
  2. to develop appropriate laboratory components and field experiment tools based on interactive learning and teaching;
  3. to graduate Masters on civil engineering who can meet the market needs and the building/energy efficiency codes of the Partner countries in order to establish sustainable energy development and efficient energy practices
  4. to establish training courses for professional civil engineers and architects in the areas of applied energy for buildings
  5. to promote technological and scientific co-operation between universities and construction and other companies on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Buildings to strengthen the collaboration between the participating universities from EU, Central Asia and Russia

Project outcomes

In the framework of the implementation of MAPREE project at the Technological University of Tajikistan there was developed teaching and methodical complex for the special course “Non-traditional and renewable energy resources” of the specialization 1-43 030103 – Technology of the Energy Efficiency. Annually, this course in the frame of this specialty is taught 3 ECTS credits to students in the Faculty of Telecommunication and Professional Education at TUT.  Moreover, for the aforementioned specialization there was created scientific-academic laboratory “Energy Effective Technology”.
